Firstly, it seems strange that Watson should list “owning a gun” as one of his “shortcomings” or bad sides, and that it should be the first to spring to his mind.
Secondly, did Holmes forget Watson’s firearm? Later in the story he asks Watson, “Have you any arms”?

The Hound of The Baskervilles was the first book which got me hooked on Sherlock Holmes. I was eleven years old and I am now twenty and still passionate about everything ever written about this most favourite of all literary detectives. I am looking forward to reading the latest novel House Of Silk by Anthony Horowitz.

May I also recommend to you “In the Shadow of Sherlock Holmes: Classic Detective Fiction, 1865-1910″ edited by (ahem) me? It’s from IDW and just out. ISBN 978-1613771136. Available online in the usual places and at your local comic book and book stores.

You do not have to buy a Kindle – you can download the free Kindle app onto your PC, MAC or phone. But if you need an excuse to buy a Kindle this is a good one!

Darn. I’m going to have to break down and buy a Kindle. Have resisted it in favor of hard copy books that smell and feel like books and which keep publishers somewhat busy. Time to join the 21st century.
